Wood Group Open Day Opens Doors For Aberdeen Software Firm

AN Aberdeen software company has clinched a contract with Wood Group Engineering as a direct result of taking part in an SME open day hosted by the energy services giant.

C-SAM Ltd was one of 200 small to medium businesses which took advantage of the chance to meet and network with managers and chief engineers of Wood Group Engineering (North Sea).

Senior staff from the innovative software solutions company were able to learn about potential openings with Wood Group during the open day which was held at Aberdeen's Beach Ballroom last October.

And as a direct result of being able to meet face to face with key decision makers, C-SAM have been awarded a five figure contract to supply a web enabled engineering queries (EQ) management system to support the Amerada Hess-Triton FPSO project.

The EQ system will significantly reduce administrative burden by automating the process of raising offshore requests for engineering solutions and sharing the information across multiple locations in real-time via the web. The multi-level analysis and reporting system also equips the Triton management team with the tools to quickly identify and prioritise critical EQs, leading to efficient allocation of resources.

The system will also eliminate duplication and provide instant and direct access to EQ information, leading to improved customer responsiveness, business planning and management reporting.

C-SAM (Corporate Software Asset Management) provides a range of operational software solutions to the international oil, gas and construction industries and specialise is asset management and tracking.

C-SAM managing director, Theresa Wheeler, said: "The open day was a great way for us to be able to introduce our services and explain our methodology to key staff in Wood Group's senior management.

"It was invaluable in helping us establish a relationship with managers who were willing to give us an opportunity to tender for contracts. It was an extremely useful event and Wood Group is to be congratulated on providing this platform for young enterprising companies such as our own."

Dave Stewart, operations manager, Wood Group Engineering (North Sea), said: "As a direct result of our SME initiative we have linked up with an innovative company who can tailor a solution to meet our business requirements on a fast track basis."
