C-SAM Gets Green Light From Waste Charity
C-SAM Ltd has played its part in ensuring Aberdeen is a greener place by designing a custom-made stock system for a waste renewal charity.
Computer software solutions experts C-SAM came to the aid of the Creative Waste Exchange (CWE) which collects unwanted products from households and businesses and finds new uses for them.
The charity collects, sorts, weighs and markets a whole range of products which would otherwise end up in land fill sites and counts some of the largest oil companies in Aberdeen amongst its clients.
Everything from stationery, plastic, art and craft materials, tyres and wood to paving slabs and carpet tiles are sold on to community groups, schools, local projects and individuals for a small fee.
C-SAM were called in to devise a software system which could record and track every donation and produce reports on how each item was disposed of.
CWE manager, Lynn Warren, explained: “Our clients include some of Aberdeen’s major oil and gas operators who adhere to strict environmental guidelines when disposing of waste material.
“It was therefore crucial that we could produce meaningful data showing that their donations have been used in a proper and environmentally efficient manner and C-SAM’s excellent solution has given us that ability.
“Although we are a charity, this bespoke stock control system has put us on a much more professional and business footing and it gives clients the confidence that using our service is a great way of finding new uses for waste which might otherwise go to landfill.
“C-SAM quickly understood our needs, came up with a system which has introduced many benefits to the charity and we are grateful for their input.”
C-SAM’s managing director, Theresa Wheeler, said: “We are delighted our system has proved such a useful asset to CWE’s work and to play a small part in helping Aberdeen become a more environmentally friendly city.”
