People Tracking Made Easy For Oil and Gas Industry By C-SAM

Software design company C-SAM Ltd have developed a unique People Tracking System (PTS) specifically aimed at the oil and gas industry.

 

The people resourcing tool will help oil and gas operators and service companies make better use of staff deployed on onshore and offshore projects.

 

Research by C-SAM showed many companies have no customised system in place which tracks personnel movement, training schedules, annual leave, competency levels and other crucial data.

According to C-SAM, most companies regardless of size, use a spreadsheet style solution to deal with people tracking which often lack appropriate security and validation checks.

 

Some companies also use different tracking systems for individual projects which can lead to confusion on the whereabouts of key staff.

 

The PTS has a built-in competency library which can quickly pinpoint key personnel who hold the appropriate qualifications for a particular project and it can also identify future training requirements.

 

The user friendly system also provides complete visibility of other areas including training records, job history, back to back, and visa and passport control. It reduces the administration burden and can be fully integrated with 3rd party applications and electronic devices including Sap, Maximo, Movex and PDA’s.

 

C-SAM managing director, Theresa Wheeler, said launching the new PTS was a direct response to industry demands for one specialised system which can be integrated across all company functions and departments.

 

Ms Wheeler said: “We realised there was a big demand for a People Tracking System which was specifically designed for use in the oil and gas industry. Some companies will have a makeshift system for each project they are working on with the result that there is no clear picture of what their people are doing and whether they are offshore, on holiday, attending a training course or on sick leave.

 

“This versatile system highlights competency requirements and training needs and can also be used in forward planning to predict where, when and how staff should be deployed in the months ahead.
