Second major Scotia win for software firm
The Aberdeen Press and Journal
An Aberdeen software company which specialises in the oil and gas industry has landed a second five-figure contract with house builder Scotia BBS. C-SAM's successful installation of a construction development system for the firm has been rewarded with further work to co-ordinate all its surveying activities.
The initial software solution tracked the house builder's projects from plot stage to client handover. C-SAM will now develop a module which will allow the Ellon-based firm to introduce a centralised system for surveyors working on a range of house building projects throughout Inverness-shire, Aberdeen, Kincardineshire and the central belt.
The new system aims to bring uniformity in the way surveyors evaluate each job, allow better accountability and security and streamline information used by Scotia's regional offices. Complex year-end procedures and pricing amendments which would have taken several weeks to complete previously using spreadsheets will now be able to be performed in only a few hours.
Ian Cochrane, technical manager for Scotia BBS, said: "We are building in excess of 40 different types of houses in a variety of locations and this makes the surveying process extremely complex, but we were so impressed with C-SAM's earlier work that we had no hesitation in asking them to develop a tailored solution that would meet all our surveying requirements." Theresa Wheeler, managing director of C-SAM, said: "Our operational software packages can be specially adapted to suit the requirements of a wide range of industries."
C-SAM was formed in January 2001, and annual turnover is now around £300,000. It employs six staff, but this is set to increase.
